Since a career pivot in August 2021, Marnie has devoted her time to learning the science of agency recruitment in the web3 ecosystem. During this time, working with a wide range of blockchain based startups, she has built a great reputation with her peers and recruitment community worldwide. She has also grown and continues to nurture an impressive global web3 network of highly skilled crypto native candidates. In November 2023, Marnie launched Chain Reaction Recruiters Ltd with the view to working with web3 projects whose focus is disruption of the status quo of industry and entity for good.
She is an experienced business professional who can put people at ease with her no nonsense approach. She believes that providing a solid recruitment service to clients and jobseekers doesn’t need to be complicated, but does demand meticulous administration and capability of using multiple tools and systems – at the same time as being excellent at relationship building.
She firstly centres the hiring process around the goals of the clients, and then around the career goals of the candidates. On both sides of the hiring process, she is passionate about building honest, transparent, and straightforward relationships – not just to fill that role, but for the absolute future of the growth of web3, and the betterment of all of our lives as a result.
She works across all disciplines at any levels and has a deep understanding of and passion for the Blockchain ecosystem and all its potential.
Marnie, a GenX, started her career in the late 80s hustling candy door to door. By the time she was 17 she had 3 part time jobs and had a taste for making money. After a year volunteering abroad in the middles east, and some stepping stone jobs in hospitality, and more door to door sales, she was hired for her first career role in advertising sales with one of the UK’s leading print directories, Thomson Local. She spent over a decade, and two rodeos at both Thomson’s and Yellow Pages experiencing first hand the world shift from print to digital.
A huge part of her career has been in sales; advertising, property and retail travel all for big Global and UK corporations with some of the best training available at the time that leaned heavily into sales psychology. As a by product of working for huge blue chip companies and handling thousands of clients, Marnie has excelled in operations and structure.
In 2009 Marnie swapped Glasgow corporate life for the waves of Bali, Indonesia where she did many things during more than a decade of living there, but laterally built the sales and operations department for an Australian owned, private drug and alcohol treatment centre, set up a theatre producing company, They Sent Me to You, worked with a UK theatre company, Wright & Grainger to produce a 10 day tour of their award winning show, Orpheus.
In 2021, after recovering from a major injury, that exacerbated a financial storm made even worse by processing a bereavement in the 2020 lockdown, she came home to Glasgow, replacing surfing the waves with surfing the emerging web of Crypto and Blockchain. She dove into Crypto Education, fell in love with Blockchain technology, and with the help of LinkedIn, an ex-coworker from the travel industry – who had moved into recruitment in the Blockchain space helped her to pivot into the space
